Who we are

Forks & Founders is a London-based commercial and sourcing business operating in the United Kingdom and Ireland. We are the data controller for personal information collected through this website.

02

Information we collect

This is a business-to-business website. We do not sell to consumers and we do not take payments here. Information reaches us in two ways.

Information you give us. When you complete the enquiry form or email us we collect your name, company, role and work email address, together with the details of the enquiry itself: what you are trying to make, the product and format, estimated volume, target timeline and any certification your buyer requires. We also keep the correspondence between us.

Information collected automatically. When you visit the site we may collect your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you viewed and how long for, and the site that referred you. See our cookie policy for how this works.

03

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

Under UK GDPR we must have a lawful basis for using your information. We rely on four.

Legitimate interests covers most of what we do: responding to your enquiry, sourcing, developing, quoting and supplying the products you ask about, managing the account afterwards, and keeping this website secure and working. We consider this the basis you would reasonably expect when you approach a supplier.

Contract applies where we are taking steps to enter into, or to perform, a supply agreement with you or your company.

Consent applies to non-essential cookies, and to marketing emails where you have asked to receive them. You can withdraw it at any time.

Legal obligation applies where we are required to keep records, for example for tax, food safety or traceability purposes.

We do not add you to a mailing list because you sent us an enquiry.

04

Sharing your enquiry with our manufacturing partners

This is the part that matters most for how we work, so we set it out plainly.

We hold the UK and Ireland commercial mandate for food manufacturers based outside the UK, principally in Türkiye. To answer a technical or commercial brief we usually need to discuss it with the relevant plant. That means the content of your enquiry, and the business contact details needed to progress it, may be shared with a manufacturing partner outside the UK.

We share only what is needed to answer the brief. Where a transfer is made to a country without a UK adequacy decision, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. If you would rather we did not share a particular enquiry, tell us and we will scope what we can answer without doing so.

We also use service providers who process information on our behalf: website hosting, form handling and email. They act on our instructions only. We do not run website analytics, advertising or cross-site tracking — see our cookie policy.

We never sell, rent or trade your personal information. We disclose it otherwise only where the law requires it, or to establish or defend legal claims.

05

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not lead to a trading relationship are kept for up to two years, so we can pick up the conversation if you come back to us. Records relating to an active or past customer or supplier relationship are kept for seven years after the relationship ends, to meet tax and traceability obligations.

06

Keeping it secure

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including encrypted connections to this website and access controls on the systems we use. No transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

07

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you and to receive a copy of it, to have anything inaccurate corrected, and to ask us to delete it where there is no overriding reason for us to keep it. You can also object to how we use it or ask us to restrict that use, ask us to transfer information you gave us to another organisation, and withdraw consent at any time where consent is what we rely on.

To exercise any of these, email hello@forksandfounders.com. We will respond within one month.

If you are not satisfied with our response you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to resolve it with you first.

08

Children

This website is intended for food industry professionals. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

09

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any change will be posted on this page with a revised date. Material changes affecting how we use information already held will be notified directly where we have your contact details.
