A new report by government advisers proposes a levy on HFSS (high fat, salt, sugar) foods, with revenue ring-fenced to subsidise fruit, vegetables and school meals. It highlights that the poorest 20 % of UK households would need to spend 45 % of disposable income to meet healthy-diet guidelines.

Brands, Pizza Hut’s global parent, is stepping in to support a smaller network of sites and preserve some jobs, preventing a total collapse of the UK business.
